Ju De Paula – The Blooming Home

Written by
Last year, we discovered a new reality design show from the BBC. The program is called “The Great Interior Design Challenge,” and it brought 10 extremely talented designers from all around the UK. One of these designers really stood out to us. Brazilian-born interior designer Ju De Paula delighted audiences throughout the show with her sunny disposition and upbeat attitude, which was emphasized by her happy floral designs. So who is Ju De Paula? What is her Aesthetic? And how can you get it in your own home?
De Paula was born in Florianopolis, Brazil, in a bright and lively home setting. Lots of colors, lots of patterns and lots of singing. In 2005 she made her first trip to London and instantly fell in love with the city and everything it had to offer. In 2015, after having spent a few years as a stay-at-home mom, Ju decided to rejuvenate her brand and career as an interior designer and started Blueberry Living & Co.

De Paula’s aesthetic is exactly the reason we were drawn to her in the first place. Her designs radiate pure happiness. She has impeccable attention to detail, with her expert usage of mixed prints, and of course, her use of florals. Maximizing the potential in every space, no matter the size, is her motto.  “Breaking rules and creating spaces to be enjoyed and lived to its fullest is a big part of what I believe,” says De Paula. Her unique designs make you want to become an amateur designer yourself.

De Paula’s website is choc-full of information, from a blog with DIY design ideas to free workshops and even free prints that you can print out and begin your design revolution in your home. Because Ju is right, the home should be a place that’s exciting to get back to, and just because it’s lived in doesn’t mean it has to be dreary. So if you think you might be brave with color and patterns or are just ready to learn, we implore you to take a look at her designs for knowledge, inspiration, and a step closer to a happier-looking space!
