Microsoft Australia has donated AU$4 million worth of software to help World Vision enhance its existing technology capabilities.
Delivered as part of Microsoft Australia’s Tech4Good program, the donation will see all of World Vision’s staff get access to Office Professional Plus 2013, Microsoft Dynamics CRM online, SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 for collaboration, Lync 2013, Exchange 2013, Visio 2013, Project 2013 and Project Server licenses, and Windows 8.1 licensing.
Ash Knop, World Vision head of corporate partnerships, said given that the organisation has more than 45,000 staff globally, it’s important to be able to support the growing mobility of its workforce, and provide the needed to end-to-end connection.
“We have to have high quality communication and we require a robust system because that is critical,” he said.
He said softwares such as Lync and SharePoint will provide needed support for the mobility of its staff both nationally and internationally.
At the same time, he said Dynamic CRM will provide “flexibility and options to enable us to be more support-centric in decisions and communication”.
The partnership with Microsoft will also see World Vision Australia receive ongoing training for the use of the softwares.
“One of the significant thing about this is it’s not just about software and hardware, but really helping us through the utilisation and implementation process,” Knop said.
“It’s ensuring that we as an organisation are able to use all of the software as part of our day-to-day as say when it comes to SharePoint and Lync they’re something we’ve not previously used.”
