HP takes on Apple Music and Spotify with its own streaming service

Written by

HP is the latest name to throw its hat into the music-streaming ring with the launch of HP Lounge, the computing firm’s answer to Spotify.

The latest Apple Music competitor is exclusive to HP device owners, offering them free, unlimited streaming of tracks and curated playlists.

There’s also bonus features like making-of videos, recommendations, and a tool for finding concert tickets.

This is one of those occasions when free really does mean free, but there is a caveat – HP Lounge’s library contains music from Universal artists only.

The service was launched in conjunction with the record label, so you won’t find anything from its rivals on there, but you will find Spotify boycotter Taylor Swift.

HP revealed Lounge alongside a host of new products – including the HP Envy 8 Note tablet and the geektastic Star Wars Special Edition Notebook – at a press conference in Barcelona.
