Wholly owned TCL subsidiary Alcatel (previously Alcatel OneTouch) was probably not among IFA 2016’s highest-profile exhibitors, but it arguably brought one of the widest, richest, most eclectic selections of smart devices to Berlin, the final four products of which nearly went completely unnoticed.
At the eleventh hour, we’re turning our attention from mid-range phones, unique standalone VR headsets, and more mid-range phones, as well as run-of-the-mill Android tablets, to so-called “connected wearables.”
The Alcatel Move family consists of a mainstream Movetime WiFi Watch, kid-friendly (or rather, parent-oriented) Move Track&Talk wristwatch, Moveband bracelet, and Movetrack portable GPS tracker.
That pretty much says it all, though if you want us to go into a bit of detail, know that the Movetime WiFi Watch doesn’t run Android Wear, but instead a proprietary, simpler platform, sporting a nice-looking 400 x 400 pix res 1.39-inch circular AMOLED display, Wi-Fi connectivity (duh), Bluetooth, speaker and built-in microphone.
The Move Track&Talk, meanwhile, kinda sorta follows in the footsteps of the Go Watch, with a relatively robust, children-proof design, GPS, GSM and WiFi support, plus impressive four-day battery life.
As for the Moveband “active bracelet”, this “combines a sleek design and trendy colors with a charge-time of less than two hours”, monitoring distance traveled, pace, calories, sleeping patterns, etc., etc. Finally, the Movetrack tips the scales at a skimpy 33 grams, attaching to your luggage, keychain or pet’s collar for easy and reliable location supervising. No words on prices across the board, alas.
