No, you didn’t read that headline wrong, Pepsi, as in the Pepsi, the one that makes fizzy drinks, could be about to launch its first smartphone – yes, really.
First chatter about the unexpected Pepsi handset emerged last week when a verified Weibo account (the Chinese version of Twitter) popped up promising a ‘Pepsi Phone’. Now, the rumour mill has doubled down, with claimed specs and even an image leaking via PhoneArena.
On the specs front, the phone is tipped to run a 1.7GHz octa-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 3,000mAh battery.
A 13-megapixel primary camera is also said to be making an appearance alongside a 5-megapixel selfie-shooter and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Like you actually care though, right? All we really want to know is will it dispense soda, and why oh why does Pepsi want to get into the smartphone game?
