If you thought a 2K resolution display on a smartphone was a bit too much, then fasten your seatbelts. LG is rumoured to bring in a 3K resolution display on its next flagship smartphone, the G4. This means a whooping resolution of  2880×1620 pixels and presuming it will be 5.5-inch in dimension, the pixel density will be a groundbreaking 600ppi.

This is the first big leak/rumour about the device and if it does turn out to be true, then LG will once again prove that it is not going to go down easy. The rumour comes from a leaked user agent profile where the model number ‘LG-VS999’ is said to be heading to Verizon and the serial number is quite close to last year’s G3 (VS-985). This could be a fake profile as well, but LG has been putting efforts to introduce the latest and newest hardware on its devices ever since the the Optimus 2X which was the first dual-core processor equipped smartphone.

There isn’t any other information about the device but hopefully it will retain the 5.5-inch display size and since all the upcoming flagships are relying on the Snapdragon 810 SoC, it wouldn’t come out to be a surprise if LG uses the same.

But will a smartphone with such a high resolution display be a crucial selling point?
