The customer typed in the wrong amount when paying for his curry.
A customer was shocked when he realised he’d accidentally paid more than £1 million (NZ$1.9 million) for a three-course meal at an Indian restaurant.
The man was enjoying the meal with two friends at Rajpoot Indian Restaurant in Inverurie, Scotland, the Evening Express reported.
The bill came to about £100, and the customer requested he enter the amount into the card machine himself.
But after swiping his credit card, the horrified customer realised a payment of £1,006,082.04 had been approved.
Restaurant owner Abdul Wahid said the initial payment had not gone through, so he was on the phone with the bank and did not see the incorrect amount the customer had typed in.
“But 10 minutes later I took the machine and looked at it and I just said, ‘oh my god what’s happened, what have you done my friend’.
“I looked at the receipt and then he looked at it and he just said ‘oh my…’”
The customer quickly rang his bank to cancel the payment, before paying the correct amount.
Wahid said he was still baffled by the incident.
“This has to be one of the most expensive meals there has ever been,” he told the Evening Express.
“I have never experienced anything like this.”
