The original screenshot was shared on the Chinese website ITHome and allegedly arose from the jailbreak community. The screenshot shows a new setting in iOS that lets a user turn on/off an audio call recording feature.

The call recording setting also contains a long disclaimer warning the user to ensure the recording is being used according to local laws.

Apple engineers reportedly told 9to5Mac that this feature is nothing to get excited about. It typically is present in internal iOS builds and is used for debugging. It’s only present on the testing devices Apple gives to its engineers, which is why the disclaimer instructs the owner not to share the phone with someone when the recording feature is enabled.

Internal versions of iOS typically have features and settings that are only available on these engineering devices. These features help engineers and developers both test the devices under a wide range of conditions and provides them with the tools to help them isolate and fix issues.

What’s New in iOS 14?

Even though iOS 14 likely won’t have call recording, the operating system will be chock full of new features. Thanks to a leaked version of iOS that was thoroughly pulled apart and analyzed, we believe Apple will have a tweaked Home screen, new wallpaper settings, built-in language translation for Safari, improved keychain experience, and more.

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 14 at WWDC 2020, which kicks off June 22 with a keynote presentation. The conference will be held online using a digital-only format. Besides iOS, Apple may unveil the latest versions of watchOS, tvOS, and macOS.
