The 2020 MacBook Air is expected to debut with a revamped scissor keyboard similar to the new Magic Keyboard on the 16-inch Macbook Pro. All current MacBook air models have Apple’s butterfly keyboard that can malfunction after prolonged use.
The problem was so severe that Apple instituted a free repair program in 2018 and expanded it in 2019 to include all butterfly keyboards even those on its 2019 models.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently predicted that Apple would launch an updated MacBook Air in the second quarter of 2020 alongside other products.
Apple also was expected to debut the iPhone SE2/9, AirTags, and refreshed iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models.
These products were assumed to be announced during a March press event, but Apple reportedly canceled those plans because of the coronavirus. Now, Apple may unveil its new product lineups via a series of carefully timed press releases, possibly starting next week with the MacBook Air.
