Surprise! You Can Hard Boil an Egg in the Air Fryer

Eggs sit in an air fryer basket, and cooked eggs sit in a bowl next to it.

Air fryers are magical appliances. From making perfectly crispy french fries sans grease to cooking whole meals, they seem like they can do anything. There’s one food it can prepare that’ll make you believe in its magical abilities even more.

You can hard boil eggs in an air fryer, and while sure, calling it “boiling” might be erroneous if done in an air fryer, it’s still the same food.

If you’re a frequent eater of boiled eggs—be they in salads or simply as a breakfast item—you know prepping them in advance can make meals easier. The air fryer helps you do that without dealing with boiling water.

To air fry a hard-boiled egg set your fryer to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and preheat. Place the eggs in the basket and cook for 15 minutes for a well-done egg. If you’d like a jammy egg, shave off two or three minutes from the time.

Once finished frying, transfer the eggs to an ice water bath just like you would regular hard-boiled eggs. Once they’ve cooled, peel them and store them as usual.

If you’re looking for an easy item to meal prep at the beginning of the week, hard-boiled eggs are an excellent option. Plus, they can last for up to a week in the fridge. Time to grab that air fryer and egg carton!
