An Easy Holiday Makeup Look

While it’s fun to go a little over the top with your makeup for the holidays, there’s something to be said for keeping it simple, but still festive. This holiday season, Abby created an easy and affordable makeup look using nothing but drugstore products. She focused on creating definition on her face with her brows and contouring her cheeks. A few other goals? Achieving a glowing natural base using gold eyeshadow and nailing the perfectly bold red lip! If you are interested in creating a similar look for a holiday party or festive family gathering, read on to find out how.

  1. Start with a clean and moisturized face and apply a primer such as Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. Then, create an even base using a natural finish foundation like Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup or L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable Makeup.
  2. Conceal any dark spots, red patches or blemishes with Maybelline Master Conceal by Face Studio.
  3. Using the e.l.f. Spotlight Ready Eyes & Face Palette (similar eyeshadow palette andbronzer palette), lightly contour the face with one of the bronzers to create definition. It’s best to start light and then build it up—even using a darker bronze as you go. Abby focused on visually hollowing out her cheekbones and adding a bronzed effect to her temples.
  4. Lightly dust a little of the peachy blush on the apples of the cheeks.
  5. Moving onto the eyes, use the gold shades in the e.l.f. palette to create a simple gold eye (Abby mixed all three gold shades together to create a color she liked). Once the eyelid is covered, make sure to use the shade to highlight the inner corner of the eye and line the inner corner of the lower lash line.
  6. To define the eyes, take a small flat brush, dip it in the dark brown matte shade and push it into the upper and lower lash line.
  7. Curl the lashes and coat them with mascara (Abby’s tried-and-true mascara is L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara in blackest black).
  8. Use the e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow Kit to define the brows. Abby uses the medium palette and then uses the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara to set the brows and deepen them even more.
  9. Once your lips are prepped for lipstick (make sure they aren’t too dry), use e.l.f. professional Matte Lip Color in Rich Red. For longer-lasting lip color, lightly blot the lips after the first application and then go over them with another coat.
  10. Finish off the entire look with NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Or Multi-Usage Dry Oil Golden Shimmer or Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator on the top of the cheekbones and on the décolletage (if it is exposed) for an extra holiday glow!
