Lexus recently hopped on their PR wire to tease a new car for this year’s 2016 Beijing Auto Show. It suggests that Toyota’s luxury branch will be providing the current IS with a mild update and facelift. This means a slightly new front fascia and headlight design, as depicted in the teaser.
The Lexus IS is one of Lexus’ most important models since it allow the company to compete in one of the most grueling and competitive segments in the entire automobile industry. This is the same segment that the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Infiniti Q50, Acura TLX, and the Audi A4 compete in. Now, we have the Cadillac ATS, and things just got a whole lot more complicated with the arrival of the Jaguar XE and the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
So that means Lexus really has to bring their A-game big time.
Not much else is known, but you can expect the updated IS to be, uhm, updated, with some more tweaks on the outside and in, along with some packaging reworks and new options and trims, as usual.
