Acura made good on its promise of a starting price around $150,000 for the long-awaited NSX reboot. The ground-hugging supercar will start at $157,800 when Acura opens reservations early next year, including a hefty $1,800 destination fee. Acura says that with all factory options, the car tops out at $205,700.

The NSX’s most direct competitor, the redesigned 2017 Audi R8, has yet to be priced. It goes on sale in spring 2016. (The current R8 coupe starts at $120,150, including a gas-guzzler tax and destination charge, and tops out around $217,000.) It’s unclear whether the NSX, whose twin-turbo V-6 makes more than 550 horsepower, will qualify for a gas tax; several Acura spokespeople did not respond to our questions.

Acura will auction the first production NSX at Arizona’s Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in late January. That’s among the most venerated car auctions in the country, and one that’s found sky-high prices for first-run sports cars that range from $825,000 for the first 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat to $1 million for the first 2016 Ford Mustang GT350R. Those were both for sub-$100,000 cars, so it’s safe to say that if you want the first NSX, you’ll part with a serious pile of cash.

Proceeds for both sales reportedly went to charity, and Acura says proceeds from the NSX auction will go toward two children’s charities.

That will satisfy exactly one buyer. For everyone else, Acura says it plans to open reservations for the built-to-order supercar on Feb. 25, 2016, at authorized dealers and on Acura.com. It’s unclear when deliveries commence, but the NSX will come with eight exterior colors, four interior colors and three seating options. Other customizable options include three wheel designs, carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon fiber interior trim and a carbon fiber roof.
