Apple could be working in a software-based solution to Genius Bar congestion as a new support app from the Cupertino firm has leaked online.

Reliable Apple tipster Sonny Dickson has posted screenshots of the application online (via uSwitch) and outlined some of its key features.

Customers will apparently be able to speak with their carrier, access Apple Support and set a Genius Bar appointment through the app.

Placing the emphasis on Apple’s support channels, the software could solve the problem of Genius Bar waiting times at Apple Stores.

The service appears to be a streamlined version of Apple’s support site, which can be somewhat convoluted to navigate.

Apple is yet to officially announce the support app, but we’ll let you know as soon as the iPhone maker breaks its silence.
