A Slider Stadium Worthy of Football Fandom

It might look daunting, but this burger-based beauty can be achieved with a few easy-to-obtain tools and a dash of imagination. Follow along as we build every snacker’s fantasy football team and their fully edible home field, complete with opposing teams: Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders vs. Italian Meatball Sliders.

Step 1

GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

• 2 foam poster boards (20 x 30 x 3/16-inch)
• Hot glue gun
• Hot glue sticks
• 2 rolls (25ft) inexpensive aluminum foil paper
• 2 half-size shallow steam table aluminum foil pans (1 3/4″ x 10 2/5” x 12 3/4″)
• 2 aluminum foil loaf pans
• Toothpicks
• Scotch tape
• 2 sheets colored paper (in different colors), for the flags
• 2 beef jerky sticks, such as Slim Jims (for the goal posts)
• Scissors

Step 2

BUILD YOUR GOAL POSTS

Cut two long pieces of beef jerky sticks. Exactly how long you make these pieces should depend on how tall you want your goal post — whatever size you choose, they should be equal. Then cut 6 smaller pieces. Using toothpicks, attach them all together to form the classic “fork” shape.

Step 3

MAKE THE FLAGS

Cut out strips of colored paper (two different colors to represent opposing football teams or choose your team’s two colors if you’re staying very loyal). Trim the strips to make long triangles and tape the flags onto toothpicks.

Step 4

ASSEMBLE THE STADIUM

Start by setting one poster board down on a flat working surface. This is your base. Next, run hot glue all along the top edge of one of the half-sized steam pans. Do this as quickly as possible so the glue doesn’t cool. Quickly, but squarely, firmly place the glue side down onto the center of the board and apply pressure to ensure it adheres. The bottom should be facing up.

Now, run hot glue all over the bottom of the steam pan you just glued, place the second steam pan, bottom-down, on top — the opening needs to be facing up. This will be the guacamole field.

Glue the loaf pans on either side of the center pan. These will hold sauces on both ends of the guacamole field.

Step 5

CONSTRUCT THE STANDS

To make the dividers for the fillings (which look like stadium seating), cut the second foam board in half length-wise.

Then cut the two long halves into 10- x 5 1/2-inch rectangular pieces.

Then cut each piece on a diagonal. You will need two diagonal pieces out of each 10- x 5 1/2-inch piece.

Glue each of the pieces you just cut along the center of the aluminum pans, making sure to place the short end of each piece in the center. You can either glue the pieces all around the field or have 6 on the left side and 6 on the right, as I did. It all depends on how many “boxes” you need for your slider toppings.

Step 6

MAKE YOUR STADIUM SHINE

Cover the entire thing in aluminum foil. This will ensure that the board doesn’t get greasy and everything is kept food safe. Wrap the edges in foil as well to create a back for each of the boxes. At this point it will look really bad and you might question your choices in life, but keep pushing through!

Step 7

COOK YOUR SLIDERS

It’s not football without a face-off, which is why this slider stadium is home to two opposing burgers. To make your slider stadium as interactive as the game, all you have to do is cook your slider fillings and pile them into your stadium. That way, you and your fellow fans can assemble as you go. Simply prep your slider components and you’ll be ready for step 8.

Step 8

START FILLING THE SEATS

Fill one loaf pan with marinara and the other with ranch. Then, start filling the boxes/stadium seats! I stuffed them with meatballs, shredded lettuce, shredded mozzarella cheese, sliced provolone and cheddar, deli meats, green leaf lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, bacon and grilled chicken.

Next, I filled the big slots on the side with pretzels and chips, because you obviously need those too when eating sliders.

Step 9

GROOM THE FIELD

Save the guacamole for last so that it doesn’t turn brown (you can use store-bought or homemade). Fill the center with guacamole and smooth it out with a rubber spatula as best as possible. Then fill a disposable bag or condiment bottle with sour cream and pipe out lines.

Using a toothpick, insert the goal posts into the guacamole on either side.
